Alarming road safety data from the Ministry of Interior
The past 24 hours were marked by serious road accidents across the country. A total of 20 people were injured in crashes, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) reported. 15 severe traffic accidents were registered in the country.
In Sofia alone, there were 26 minor traffic accidents and two severe crashes, in which four people sought medical attention.
Statistics from the beginning of the month and the year
- Since the beginning of the month: 356 accidents, 26 dead, and 429 injured.
- Since the beginning of the year: 2069 accidents, 153 dead, and 2567 injured.
Rise in fatalities
The data shows a worrying trend when compared to last year. During the same period in 2025, there were 131 fatalities, while in 2026 the number reached 153. This represents an increase of 22 more victims on the road.
Road services are calling on drivers to exercise increased caution and observe traffic rules, especially in busy urban areas.
