The national transport authorities have taken emergency measures to regulate heavy truck traffic during intensive temperature anomalies. The introduced restrictions are in effect on July 26-27, 2025, and mainly cover highway sections in Southern and Eastern Bulgaria.
The main goal of the introduced restrictions is to prevent potential infrastructure damage and minimize risks of technical problems with heavy vehicles. The ban applies to trucks weighing over 20 tons, which could cause additional stress on the overheated road surface.
Control over compliance with the introduced restrictions will be carried out by road police officers. Sanctions are provided for violators in accordance with the current Road Traffic Act. The temporary measures will remain in effect until a significant temperature drop, with the expected deadline being towards the end of July.
