Temporary restrictions for trucks over 20 tons
Due to extremely high temperatures, the Road Infrastructure Agency is introducing a temporary ban on the movement of heavy goods vehicles with a total weight of over 20 tons. The measure is in effect from August 4 to August 6 (Thursday) inclusive.
The restriction applies in the time interval from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius.
Which roads are affected?
- Motorways: Trakia, Maritsa, Struma, Europa, and sections of Hemus (districts of Sofia, Lovech, Targovishte, Shumen, and Varna).
- National road network: Road II-66 (from the village of Bogomilovo to the Trakia motorway) and road III-663 (Chirpan – Tselina).
Exceptions
The ban does not apply to motor vehicles carrying:
- Perishable foods and temperature-controlled cargo;
- Live animals;
- Dangerous goods (ADR).
Purpose of the measure: The restrictions are imposed to minimize the risk of road surface deformation and to ensure the safety of all road users.
