Iliana Iotova heads to Baku: Bulgaria at the World Urban Forum

Vice President Iliana Iotova will represent Bulgaria at the 13th session of the World Urban Forum in Baku. The focus is on sustainable urban development and a safe living environment.

Iliana Iotova participates in the World Urban Forum in Baku

At the invitation of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Vice President Iliana Iotova is departing for a two-day visit to Baku on May 17 and 18. She will take part in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum – the most prestigious event in the world dedicated to urban development.

The forum was established by the UN in 2001 as a response to rapid urbanization and its global challenges.

This year, the forum adopts a special format with a first-of-its-kind summit of heads of state and government. Key discussion topics include:

The Bulgarian delegation also includes Daniel Panov, Mayor of Veliko Tarnovo and Chairman of the National Association of Municipalities. Iliana Iotova is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with President Ilham Aliyev, during which the Bulgarian side will present its experience and vision for the future of modern cities.
