The Minister of Labor Niki Kerameus launched an ambitious diplomatic tour through leading European capitals with a specific strategic goal – reversing the trend of mass emigration among Greek professionals.
The official delegation visited Berlin, Amsterdam, and Vienna, focusing on attracting qualified personnel who left their homeland during the prolonged financial instability between 2010 and 2021.
The national program provides extensive incentives for returning specialists, including unprecedented tax breaks of up to 50% of income tax. Leading Greek and international companies such as Aegean and Deloitte are actively supporting the initiative by organizing specialized career forums.
Statistical data show the dramatic scale of the problem – over 600,000 highly educated young professionals left the country during the economic crisis. Currently, only 6,000 people have taken advantage of the reintegration program.
The success of the initiative will directly depend on the ability of the Greek state to offer competitive salaries, quality conditions for professional development, and long-term opportunities for continuing education.
