Which are the most expensive destinations for Europeans?

Although European passports are among the most powerful in the world, providing access to over 150 countries, traveling outside the EU often comes with significant costs in the form of visas and electronic permits.

Ghana and Bhutan: Leaders in costs

According to an analysis by Euronews Travel, Ghana tops the ranking with an e-visa cost of 227.48 euros. Bhutan also requires a serious budget – in addition to the 35-euro entry fee, a "sustainable development" fee of 87.60 euros per night is charged.

Japan drastically increases fees

Japan has climbed sharply in the rankings after increasing its entry fee fivefold – from 16.16 euros to 81.28 euros.

This makes the country one of the most expensive for short-term tourist visits among those that require an electronic permit.
