Is the situation with the fire near Plovdiv under control?
Duty teams remained on site throughout the night to prevent the fire between the Plovdiv villages of Streltsi and Sukhozem from spreading. The situation is being closely monitored, after a helicopter from the Krumovo airbase joined the firefighting efforts yesterday.
There is no immediate danger to the settlements, the fire department assures.
Scale of the disaster
10 fire brigade teams, assisted by volunteers, joined the fight against the blaze. According to initial data:
- The burnt area reaches nearly 2,000 decares.
- The fire started from dry grass and abandoned vineyards.
- The blaze has affected a deciduous forest and several agricultural buildings.
At the moment, teams are creating firebreaks to fully contain the fire front. We remind you that due to heavy smoke, traffic on the road between the two villages was temporarily suspended.
