RUSE - A new phase of the major repair of the Danube Bridge near Ruse will begin on September 5, with construction work moving to a 320-meter section of the roadway in the direction of Romania. Meanwhile, the long-awaited repair of the opposite lane, which leads to Bulgaria, is nearing its end. This progress allows traffic to be fully redirected to the renovated part of the facility.

The daily work process has entered its final phase on the lane to Bulgaria. To ensure maximum safety and efficiency, the renovated railing and new restraint systems have been installed in the completed section. The road markings are yet to be laid, and the activities are expected to be completed by September 4.

Next phase of the repair

The next phase of the repair, which starts on Friday, will cover a part of the lane in the direction of Romania. Initially, a temporary traffic organization will be introduced, which will restrict traffic. This will allow the construction teams to begin preparatory activities on the site, including dismantling the old pedestrian railing and lighting poles. This will be followed by the removal of the existing asphalt concrete pavement, as well as the waterproofing and sidewalk.

The "Road Infrastructure Agency" has issued an official appeal to drivers to act responsibly and strictly follow the established traffic rules in the repair zone. Among the main requirements are compliance with the speed limit of 20 km/h, as well as the parameters for vehicle admissibility. The Agency warns that oversized vehicles can cause serious damage to the already repaired section, which would lead to unforeseen additional activities and a delay in the entire project.

The institution emphasizes that the major repair of the bridge is carried out in stages, and the process is organized so that vehicles pass in both directions through the lane that is not subject to construction work.

All interested citizens and drivers can follow current information on the progress of the repair works in the special section "Information on the repair of the Danube Bridge", available on the official website of the "Road Infrastructure Agency".
