The Burgas region has experienced a dynamic week, according to the latest news bulletin from the Burgas Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior. Two thefts, one other criminal offense, and four traffic accidents (TAs) were registered in the past 24 hours, resulting in four police investigations. Remarkably, authorities report solving 14 crimes.
Details from the investigations are indicative of diverse criminal activity in the region. In Tsarevo, around 12:18 PM on September 16, officers from the Tsarevo Regional Police Department conducted a search of a private property inhabited by a 35-year-old man. During the operation, significant amounts of suspected narcotics were seized – a bag of white creamy substance, a grinder with dry herbal mass, two vapes with brown liquid, and other similar materials. Besides narcotics, significant sums of money – 15,050 euros – and artifacts, such as 17 ancient coins, two ancient metal crosses, a metal detector, and other items were found. The 35-year-old man was detained for up to 24 hours. The investigation continues.
Another investigation, related to the deliberate arson of trash cans on September 8 in the central city area and the "Vazrazhdane" neighborhood of Burgas, led to the detention of a 36-year-old, criminally-convicted resident of Burgas. The man made a full confession and was admitted to the "Dr. Ivan Temkov" Center for Mental Diseases in Burgas. The traffic situation in the region was also marked by incidents.
- On September 17, around 11:15 PM, on "Yug" street in Sveti Vlas, a German citizen, driving a Mercedes ML 250 with Burgas registration, was involved in a traffic accident. Police officers established that he had been driving under the influence of alcohol with a concentration of 2.05 ppm. The driver refused a blood test and was detained for 24 hours. The car was seized, and a fast-track proceeding was initiated.
- A similar incident occurred on the same date, around 11:40 PM, on the Burgas – Kameno road, near the turnoff for the social home in the village of Rusokastro. A 32-year-old man from the village of Pirne, Aytos Municipality, was detained for driving under the influence of alcohol (1.56 ppm). In this case, a fast-track proceeding was also initiated.
- The first accident occurred on September 17, around 11:08 AM, in the "Cherno More" neighborhood of Burgas. A 60-year-old man from Pomorie, undergoing motorcycle training on a Kawasaki motorcycle, fell from the bike, suffering a fractured collarbone, several ribs, and a shoulder blade. He was admitted to the "Heart and Brain" hospital, with no life-threatening injuries.
- Around 1:50 PM on the same day, in Aytos, a 22-year-old man, maneuvering backward with a Mercedes 313 CDI, hit an 88-year-old pedestrian. The woman was admitted to the "Deva Maria" hospital with injuries.
- A third incident involved a 16-year-old from Burgas on a scooter who hit a Kia Sportage on "William Gladstone" street. The young man was examined and released for home treatment with abrasions.
- Finally, a 30-year-old man from Dimitrovgrad, operating a scooter in Sunny Beach, had a solo accident, sustaining a head injury and a lower leg fracture, but refused hospitalization.
All these events demonstrate the busy daily life of the Ministry of Interior officers in Burgas and the multifaceted picture of accidents and crimes in the region.
