Stoyan Kolev, who is wanted by the police in Burgas, appeared on social media after being declared wanted nationwide for leaving his residence despite the imposed measure of "house arrest". In an Instagram post, he is seen with a cigarette and an axe, claiming that he is already outside the country.
Kolev is under investigation for hooliganism and driving under the influence of narcotics. The police began searching for him on August 24 after the accused's electronic bracelet signaled an irregularity.
Signal from the electronic bracelet
According to investigation data, the first signal from the device placed on the 39-year-old man's leg was received around 14:30. A police patrol was sent to his address in the "Slaveykov" district of Burgas.
During the first check, the officers found him at the residence. However, about 15 minutes later, a new signal was received. Upon the second visit, the police no longer found Kolev at the address, and an operation to search for him began.
Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev stated that Kolev's bracelet did not have the necessary tracking device.
"It is interesting why this person's bracelet did not have the necessary tracking device. We will find him," Demerdzhiev stated.
He added that changes to the system will be undertaken if the inspection finds that Ministry of Interior employees did not fulfill their duties.
The charges against Kolev
On August 12, the Pazardzhik District Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment against Kolev. He was sent to court for two acts defined as indecent behavior, grossly violating public order, committed under conditions of a continuing crime.
The first case is from June 16 on the "Trakia" motorway, in the border section between the Sofia and Pazardzhik regions in the direction of Burgas. According to the prosecution, Kolev was driving his vehicle at high speed, approaching other cars dangerously, giving light signals to clear the way, and waving a pneumatic rifle through the car's sunroof.
A few minutes later, he was stopped by officers of the Pazardzhik Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior. A field test showed the presence of cocaine, and the subsequent chemical-toxicological examination of a blood sample confirmed the use of a narcotic substance. During the inspection of the vehicle, the air rifle was also discovered.
The second charge is related to the incident on June 19 at the Pazardzhik Courthouse. According to the prosecution, after his remand measure was reviewed, Kolev shouted and used offensive and obscene language in the presence of citizens and judicial security officers.
On June 25, the Pazardzhik District Court replaced his initial detention with the measure of "house arrest". The case against Kolev has been submitted for consideration to the Pazardzhik Regional Court. Until the conclusion of the case with a final court act, the accused is considered innocent.
