Burgas, September 25, 2025

The past 24 hours were marked by increased police activity in the Burgas region, reported the press center of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior. Two thefts, one other criminal offense, two fires, and two road traffic accidents (RTAs) were registered. Four police proceedings were initiated, and the number of solved crimes reached eleven. Details from the police information bulletin shed light on the diversity and seriousness of the cases.

The solved crimes demonstrate the quick reaction and effective work of the Burgas police officers. One of the cases involves an unlicensed driver caught behind the wheel after consuming alcohol with a concentration of 2.73 ppm. The incident, which occurred around 11:45 PM on "Angel Kanchev" Street in Kableshkovo, ended with the 24-hour detention of the 44-year-old man from the village of Laka and the initiation of a fast-track proceeding. Another case includes the quick resolution of a mobile phone theft from a Pomorie hotel. A 40-year-old Polish citizen was detained, made a full confession, and returned the stolen phone. A fast-track proceeding was also initiated here.

Other cases demonstrate the increased vigilance of the authorities. A 17-year-old from Burgas was detained for 24 hours after about 10 grams of marijuana were found on him in the area behind block 29A in the "Bratya Miladinovi" complex. Separately, at the roundabout at the exit of Pomorie, a 26-year-old woman from the village of Prosenik was arrested with about 3 grams of methamphetamine and 11 grams of cannabis. The driver of the car, a 35-year-old man from the village of Razhitsa, was also checked, but there is no evidence of his involvement in the crime. A fast-track proceeding was initiated in this case as well.

The road situation in the region was also tense. A motorcyclist died on the spot in a single-vehicle accident in Sunny Beach, allegedly caused by excessive speed. Around 8:18 PM on "Prof. Yakim Yakimov" Street in Burgas, an RTA occurred between three cars – a Mercedes with Georgian registration, a Kia with Targovishte registration, and a Renault with Burgas registration. The driver of the Kia, a 23-year-old woman from Targovishte, suffered a concussion and was admitted to the "Deva Maria" hospital without life-threatening injuries. The causes of the RTA are being investigated.

Not only road accidents but also fires are under investigation. About 150 acres of pastures and grasslands burned in a fire in the "Ayazmoto" area near the "Sveta Bogoroditsa" monastery. Two Burgas residents, aged 36 and 42, were detained after a witness claimed to have seen them mowing the grass with a tractor. A pre-trial proceeding has been initiated. In Ravda, there was a fire in an apartment on "Chernomorska" Street, and the fire was extinguished by a team from the Regional Directorate for Fire Safety and Disaster Response – Nessebar. The causes and damages are still being investigated.

The incidents do not end there. A tragedy with a fatal outcome occurred in Sunny Beach. A 43-year-old British tourist died after an incident at sea. His body was taken for autopsy. A pre-trial proceeding has been initiated. The tourist_q_s death casts a shadow on the otherwise intensive day filled with police work.
