Illegal "beam trawl" seized during operation near Nesebar
During a specialized inspection in the Black Sea waters near Nesebar, officials from the Executive Agency for Fisheries and Aquaculture (EAFA) discovered and seized an unmarked bottom-trawling device of the "beam trawl" type. The device was submerged and marked only with a buoy, after which it was retrieved by inspectors and taken into storage.
During the same inspection, recreational anglers in the area were also checked, with no violations found, and their catch of horse mackerel was within the legal limits.
Increased control against unregulated mussel harvesting
EAFA is actively working to curb the illegal trade in black mussels. Recently, following a report on social media, an illegal warehouse in Sredets was discovered containing 25 kg of mussels. The catch was seized and returned to the water body, and the violator was sanctioned in accordance with the Law on Fisheries and Aquaculture.

- All seized quantities that are viable are returned to their natural habitat.
