Heroism in the Sky: 5 Successful Rescue Missions in Less Than 48 Hours
The teams of the Air Ambulance Emergency Medical Center (HEMS) demonstrated exceptional speed and professionalism, completing five critical rescue operations within two days.
"Every second counts when it comes to human life, especially in cases of severe trauma and accidents in hard-to-reach areas," the medical staff shared.
Critical Situations and Rescue
- In the mountains: An injured woman in the area of Haramiata Peak (Rila Lakes) was evacuated and transported to UMBAL "St. Anna" – Sofia.
- Severe traffic accidents: Medical teams responded to an incident near Dupnitsa, where an 18-year-old girl with a traumatic brain injury was stabilized and airlifted.
- Inter-hospital transport: Children in critical condition were transported from Sandanski and Stara Zagora to leading specialized hospitals in Sofia.
Coordination During Multiple Incidents
The teams at the Sofia and Sliven bases proved their effectiveness even when redirecting flights. An example of this is the incident on the Trakia motorway near Karnobat, where, following rapid medical triage, an injured man and a 14-year-old girl were transported promptly for treatment.
