Operation to neutralize a drone near Kranevo
The Naval Forces of the Republic of Bulgaria successfully neutralized a drifting unmanned aerial vehicle in the Black Sea. The signal regarding the object's presence was submitted by the Border Police and it was located seven nautical miles east of Kranevo.
The operation was carried out with heightened caution, as there was a real risk of residual explosive materials on the drone's hull.
After identification by the crew of a rescue ship from the Naval Base in Varna, a decision was made to destroy the drone on the spot. The actions were taken in strict compliance with safety measures and under the explicit order of the fleet commander, Rear Admiral Kiril Mihaylov.
Frequent drone incidents along the Black Sea coast
This case is not isolated. In recent months, teams from the Naval Bases in Varna and Burgas have regularly responded to reports of:
- Drones washed up from the sea onto the beach;
- Reconnaissance and transportation of aircraft wreckage;
- Controlled destruction of dangerous fragments in areas such as Byala and Elenite.
The authorities urge citizens to be extra cautious when discovering suspicious objects along the coastline and to immediately report them to the competent authorities.
