High-tech monitoring in Burgas
Burgas Municipality is deploying specialized drones with thermal cameras capable of detecting fire hotspots within a radius of up to 30 kilometers. The unmanned aerial vehicles will carry out patrols during peak heat hours, announced Mayor Dimitar Nikolov.
"The goal is prevention and rapid response in the very first minutes of an incident," the local administration commented.
In parallel, 6-meter mineralized strips are being built around critical zones in Bulgarovo, Banevo, Rudnik, Cherno More, and other vulnerable areas.
Support for fire departments in the region
Regional security efforts also cover three other municipalities:
- Karnobat: A drone has been provided to the Ministry of Interior for monitoring high-risk areas and search and rescue operations.
- Nesebar: New specialized protective equipment has been provided for firefighters.
- Aytos: The "Orel" volunteer unit has been equipped with heat-resistant clothing and is undergoing training for forest fire suppression.
These measures are part of the national strategy to increase preparedness for disasters and emergencies during the fire hazard season.
