A large-scale institutional operation ensures quality and security in tourism

In an unprecedented large-scale operation, the Ministry of Tourism initiated the first fully coordinated inter-agency inspection at the Sunny Beach resort complex, combining the efforts of key government structures. The action includes experts from the Consumer Protection Commission, National Revenue Agency, Regional Health Inspection, and Economic Police under the direct guidance of Deputy Minister Pavlin Petrov.

Minister Miroslav Borshosh emphasized the strategic essence of the initiative, defining it as a critical moment for establishing quality tourist services. "Our goal is to protect the tourist not only as a consumer but also as a guest of Bulgaria," he stated during the government briefing.

The inspection covered over 50 commercial establishments with a precise multidisciplinary approach. Tax agency employees applied the innovative "mystery shopper" method to uncover potential financial irregularities. In parallel, experts from various departments conducted thorough inspections, focusing on hygiene conditions, labeling, pricing, and sanitary standards.

The results revealed numerous systemic violations, including failure to issue receipts, trading undeclared goods, and distribution of counterfeit trademarks. Economic Police took immediate action to seize compromised articles.

Alongside commercial inspections, the ministry expanded its control scope over Black Sea beaches. Through the "Control and Inspection Activities" directorate, 189 inspections were carried out, covering both guarded and unguarded coastal areas.

During beach inspections, 19 violations were identified, resulting in four administrative acts and contractual sanctions. The most common problems included lack of medical personnel, incomplete health point equipment, and outdated rescue team work schedules.

These large-scale actions correspond with the extremely positive report from the European Environment Agency, which ranks Bulgaria second in the EU with 97.9% of beach waters of "excellent" quality. The result significantly exceeds the European standard of 85.4%.

The ministry maintains constant communication with Regional Health Inspections and environmental institutions to ensure continuous monitoring. Recent analyses confirm the exceptional cleanliness and safety of Bulgarian sea beaches, fully compliant with European standards.

Minister Borshosh concluded that such coordinated actions are key to building trust and sustainability in the tourism sector, emphasizing the need for permanent, transparent, and principled control.
