Wizz Air announced that from November 17, it will restore direct flights from Sofia to Abu Dhabi, expanding its network from Bulgaria.

Airline "Wizz Air" has announced that as of November 17, it will restore its direct flight route from Sofia to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. This announcement comes as part of the low-cost carrier's network expansion, which is constantly being enriched with new routes from Bulgaria.

Regular flights on the route will operate three times a week—every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Tickets for the trips are already available for booking on the company's official website, wizzair.com, as well as through its mobile app, which allows passengers to plan their trips to the Middle Eastern destination.

The restoration of flights to Abu Dhabi highlights the strategic importance of Bulgaria for "Wizz Air". Since starting its operations in the country in 2005, the airline has managed to transport over 30 million passengers, making it one of the leading players in the Bulgarian market. As of today, "Wizz Air" operates more than 50 routes connecting Bulgaria with over 15 countries and has two operational bases on Bulgarian territory—in Sofia and Varna.

This move follows the company's recent expansion, announced in early August, when flights to seven new destinations from Sofia were announced.

They include Chisinau in Moldova, Prague in the Czech Republic, Turin and Lamezia Terme in Italy, Marrakech in Morocco, Warsaw-Modlin in Poland, and Palma de Mallorca in the Balearic Islands.

The network expansion demonstrates "Wizz Air"'s ambition to offer Bulgarian passengers an even greater choice of destinations.

In addition to the new routes from Sofia, the airline is also expanding its presence in other European countries. As of November 15, "Wizz Air" will launch year-round flights connecting Bratislava with two Bulgarian cities—Plovdiv and Varna. These flights will be operated three times a week—every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, which is an additional indicator of the increased interest in Bulgarian airports as key hubs in the European aviation network.
