The Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh presented Bulgaria's vision for transforming the tourism sector during an informal meeting in Poland, placing emphasis on green innovations, digital transformation, and regional development.

During the informal meeting of tourism ministers in Warsaw, held on June 23-24, 2025, the Bulgarian representative Miroslav Borshosh presented a comprehensive strategic concept for the future of the European tourism sector. The forum was dedicated to developing an innovative approach to sustainable tourism development, which would integrate multiple economic directions.

The minister's key messages were focused on the need for a differentiated budget mechanism to support tourism initiatives. Borshosh emphasized the exceptional importance of cross-sectoral interaction, including areas such as transport, agriculture, healthcare, and trade.

The presented strategy highlighted several key priorities. First - accelerating the ecological transition by introducing practices that minimize negative impact on the natural environment. The second fundamental element is digital transformation, aimed at improving the tourist experience through innovative technological solutions.

Special attention was paid to social sustainability and territorial cohesion. The minister insisted on creating mechanisms that guarantee benefits for local communities, generate quality jobs, and reduce regional disparities.

In the context of statistical provision, the Bulgarian delegation proposed expanding information sources. The inclusion of online content, mobile data, environmental and financial indicators was presented as an innovative approach for more precise analysis.

Among the key challenges discussed was overcoming tourism imbalance. Borshosh highlighted that Bulgaria, like other European countries, faces the challenge of concentrated tourist flows in certain destinations and underdeveloped potential in other regions.

A special emphasis was placed on marketing communications and digital storytelling to promote less-known tourist sites. The ministry demonstrated readiness for close cooperation with local authorities and municipalities in planning tourism activities.

In a geopolitical context, the Bulgarian position included recommendations for promoting destinations near conflict zones as safe and reliable. Borshosh stressed that challenges should be perceived as opportunities for rethinking and strengthening the system.

The minister's final message was unequivocal: European countries must unite efforts to build a modern, responsible, and sustainable tourism strategy that respects the environment and prepares economies for future transformations.
