"Long Summer" extends the season on the Southern Black Sea Coast: The Ministry of Tourism and local authorities unite efforts

The Ministry of Tourism is launching a new, large-scale initiative aimed at transforming the tourist profile of the Southern Black Sea Coast and establishing it as a year-round destination. The campaign, titled "Long Summer", aims to extend the traditional summer season, which usually ends in late August, by showcasing the wealth of opportunities the region offers during the autumn months. Its main slogan – "When does summer end? You decide!" – is a clear message to potential tourists.

The initiative is the result of unprecedented cooperation between state institutions and local authorities. At a meeting held a month ago, the Minister of Tourism, the Regional Governor of Burgas Province, and the mayors of the Black Sea municipalities outlined a joint strategy aimed at creating a unified tourist product. This good cooperation is considered a key factor for the success of the campaign, which seeks to unite the efforts of all interested parties.

From sand and sea to culture and events

The traditional idea of a holiday on the Southern Black Sea Coast, associated mainly with beaches and water activities, will be expanded to include a variety of alternative experiences. The campaign highlights the rich cultural and historical heritage of the region, encouraging visits to museums and archaeological sites. It also emphasizes opportunities for local wine and product tastings, spa weekends, and active participation in festivals and events that bring the coast to life in September and October.

The campaign will also promote the advantages of the region as a destination that is easy to get around. Thanks to the short distances between individual resorts, tourists can stay in one town while having easy access to neighboring ones for new experiences. This travel model is seen as an effective way to stimulate tourism and distribute the flow of visitors to smaller towns.

A message of unity and sustainability

Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh emphasized that the initiative aims to show that the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast offers much more than a classic summer vacation. "It can be an experience that lasts through all seasons. This, in turn, contributes to stimulating employment in the region and developing the local tourism business", the minister stated.
The Regional Governor of Burgas, Vladimir Krumov, added that the autumn months are precisely the time when the region reveals its true potential. "On the southern coast, the “Long Summer” is a fact. I thank the Ministry of Tourism for hearing the voice of the mayors and implementing the shared idea to tell this story. The campaign sends an even stronger message – we are one whole!", Krumov stressed.

With "Long Summer", the Ministry of Tourism confirms its commitment to sustainable development models that build upon Bulgaria's tourist product. The campaign is part of a long-term effort to extend the season, stimulate regional development, and establish the country as an attractive destination for travel throughout the year.
