The Ministry of Agriculture determines the rates for environmental payments for permanent crops in 2024.

The Ministry of Agriculture announced the amounts of payments that will be provided to farmers in 2024 under the eco-scheme for environmental maintenance of permanent crops. The Minister of Agriculture and Food, Dr. Georgi Takhov, issued an order that sets the rate for maintaining the inter-rows at 330.39 leva per hectare. Additionally, 129.71 leva per hectare will be paid for maintaining strips along the edges of the parcel.

According to the order, agricultural producers who grow permanent crops will be able to apply for these environmental payments next year. The text of the entire order has been published and is available for review.

The determination of these rates is part of the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture to encourage farmers to apply environmental practices in the cultivation of permanent crops. The provision of financial support aims to stimulate the maintenance of inter-rows and edge strips, which contributes to environmental protection.

The planned payments are within the framework of the EU's Common Agricultural Policy and will be paid for eligible permanent crop areas in 2024. This is another step in the implementation of schemes aimed at greening agriculture in the country.
