Zaporizhzhia is plunged into mourning following a brutal Russian attack with a guided air bomb on residential areas. Rescue operations are ongoing, but the horrifying toll is three dead and dozens of damaged buildings.
Among the destruction are several multi-story residential buildings – 15 in number, as well as 10 private homes. Schools and kindergartens are among the severely damaged facilities, turning the tragedy into an even more serious crime against the civilian population. The scene is shocking – destroyed homes, remains of buildings, and a feeling of helplessness among the survivors.
But this is not the only attack noted in recent hours. The night was marked by a series of drone attacks covering six more regions of Ukraine: Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson.
- In the city of Sumy, serious damage was inflicted on a bakery, a school, and a kindergarten. There is also one injured person.
- In Malotaraniivka (Donetsk region), a comprehensive school was destroyed.
The scale of the destruction and casualties is appalling and shows the cynicism and inhumanity of the Russian aggressive actions.
The new bloody act of aggression is taking place against the backdrop of the upcoming 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. This is the fourth consecutive year in which Russia chooses to "celebrate" one of the most important global diplomatic events with new bloodshed and destabilizing actions, mocking the principles of international law and efforts for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
Such practice is not only morally unacceptable but also raises a serious question about the significance of the international system and the effectiveness of its mechanisms for preventing wars and protecting the civilian population.

The President of Ukraine noted the need for a decisive global response. "The world must respond with real political and economic pressure – strong sanctions, accountability for the aggressor, and new united steps to restore international law", he stressed. It is necessary to realize the full consequences of inaction in the face of such blatant acts of aggression and to take decisive action to stop Russian aggression and establish justice. These actions are not only in the interest of Ukraine but also in the interest of world peace and security. The lack of an adequate reaction could have catastrophic consequences for all of Europe and the world.
