Military personnel from the Navy and Land Forces continue to assist in the clean-up of the aftermath of the floods in the Burgas region. They are cleaning public infrastructure and providing support in the holiday village of Elenite and other affected areas.

Military personnel from the Naval Forces (VMS) and the Logistics Support Command (KLP) continue to participate today in efforts to eliminate the consequences of the floods in the Burgas region. This was announced by the press center of the Ministry of Defense (MoD).

On site, in the most severely affected areas, soldiers from the Flotilla of Combat and Auxiliary Ships and the Naval Base – Burgas, together with personnel from the Transport Battalion to the KLP in Burgas, are providing support. With the help of specialized equipment, they are cleaning public infrastructure and ensuring access to important public buildings in the Elenite holiday village. The sight of the devastation left by the water element is severe, but the selfless work of the military gives hope for a speedy recovery.

In addition, personnel from the Navy are also participating in the crisis headquarters, coordinating actions in the area of the city of Sveti Vlas, the ministry pointed out. The tension, the need for coordinated actions and the desire of everyone to help the victims are felt on the spot.

The participation of the Armed Forces in the restoration of the area from the damage caused by the torrential rains is part of the third mission of the Bulgarian Army in aid of the population – "Contribution to national security in peacetime". This mission is carried out around the clock, all year round, with organized human resources and military equipment. The MoD explained that this includes providing assistance to the population in peacetime to control or overcome the consequences of disasters. The department assured that the Bulgarian Army remains fully prepared to send additional forces and resources and to continue its mission in aid of the population.

Military personnel from the Navy and KLP have already provided assistance in clearing the area of Elenite during the previous day as well.
