Be careful on the road: 32 injured in accidents and new restrictions on motorways

Over the past 24 hours, 26 accidents have been registered on the country's roads, in which 32 people were injured. Fortunately, there are no fatalities. Since the beginning of the year, the number of road traffic accident victims has reached 169.

On 04.06.2026, the weather remains unstable with cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds. Short-term, intense rainfall with thunderstorms and hail is expected. The phenomena will be most severe in Western and Central Bulgaria.

Be careful while driving due to reduced visibility in flat areas and the risk of hydroplaning during intense rainfall.

Current roadworks on motorways

• Trakia Motorway: Repairs to the asphalt pavement and mowing of grass areas continue. Traffic is restricted in the Yambol section due to joint repairs.
• Hemus Motorway: A temporary organization is in place in the area of "Topli Dol", and vehicle traffic over 12.5 tons is prohibited in the section between the "Boaza" junction and the "Dermantsi" junction.
• Struma Motorway: A landslide near Blagoevgrad requires traffic diversion along a detour route until 04.06.2026.

Drivers should monitor road signs and drive at a speed appropriate for sections with ongoing roadworks.
