Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov stated that with the implementation of this project, there will no longer be talk of "digital nomadism", but of opportunities that will be available not only to those living in less populated areas, but also to future businesses that will develop their potential there. He defined the initiative as an "important step towards the digital transition" and a "digital march towards sparsely populated areas" where there is currently a lack of market potential.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdан Karadjov revealed that the total investment in the project amounts to nearly 500 million levs, with the operators participating with co-financing of 10%. He stressed that this is a good example of public-private partnership and social responsibility of telecommunications companies. Karadjov pointed out that in just over a year, over 7,000 km of optical network should be built, and the Ministry of Transport and Communications will exercise strict control to ensure deadlines are met.
The Deputy Prime Minister explained that the project envisages more than 100 times faster internet than the existing one, which will allow the development of business and education even in remote areas. He recalled that new legislative changes have been adopted, which accelerate the process of building networks to base stations, in order to ensure continuous internet access, even in case of power supply problems.
