Organizers offered routes of different lengths: 1330 meters for children and beginners, a main 5900-meter distance, and an exciting mixed relay in pairs.
In the men's race, Ismail Sanandji finished first with a time of 19 minutes and 1 second. He was followed by Miroslav Spasov and Alexander Vasilev. In the women’s competition, Marinela Nineva took first place, with Bilsirin Suleyman and Mihaela Bejanova coming in second and third.
The Golden Spike team won the mixed relay, followed by Merry Cones in second and Prodigy Runners in third place.
All finishers received medals and certificates, while the top eight runners were awarded cash and material prizes presented by MP Lyuben Ivanov and Deputy Mayor Borislava Borisova.
The “Vidin Run” marked the finale of a dynamic week that began on May 13 with school competitions. Throughout the week, Vidin hosted an exhibition celebrating 100 years of Bulgarian athletics, a “Kids Athletics” event in Danube Park, the local “Dortikum” tournament, and the fourth round of the national “Athletics for Youth” series.
“This year saw record participation. It’s great that not only professional athletes joined, but also amateurs running for health. Sport is health — that’s our motto. Our aim is to engage more children in athletics. The Radukanovi club was very active — many of our members took part in all three days,” said Miroslav Radukanov in an interview with Radio Vidin.
Vidin’s athletes are now preparing for the upcoming summer competition season.
