Extended license for "Lukoil" in Bulgaria

Great Britain has extended the general license for the four "Lukoil" companies in Bulgaria until October 29, 2026. The decision comes following an official request from the Bulgarian side, confirmed Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Pulev.

"This is part of a series of consistent actions that have one clear goal - to ensure the continuity of the refinery's operations and the stability of fuel supplies," stated Pulev.

Why is this decision necessary?

• Synchronization: The term of the British license now coincides with the authorization issued by the US authorities.
• Energy security: The government aims to prevent disruptions in the fuel market for businesses and end consumers.
• National security: The company's facilities were declared vital to national security in order to avoid the return of operational control to Russian owners.

We remind you that the company operating the refinery in Burgas and a chain of about 500 gas stations became subject to sanctions due to the war in Ukraine. The new measure guarantees that the refinery will continue to operate without interruption until the end of October 2026.
