"Vărvi, narode văzrodeni" echoed in Athens: Bulgarians marked May 24 with an emotional celebration

A May 24th Celebration in the Heart of Greece

The all-school anthem "Vurvi, narode vazrodeni" (Go, Revived People) echoed across Attiki Square in the Greek capital, Athens. On this May 24th – the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius – the Bulgarian community united to honor the Bulgarian alphabet, education, and culture.

"The writing system created by them has become a spiritual bridge between nations and a symbol of cultural identity," noted Mariana Petrova, Cultural Attaché of Bulgaria in Greece.

Students and teachers from the Bulgarian Sunday School "St. Cyril and St. Methodius" presented a rich program, including music, dances, and recitals that touched the hearts of the parents and guests in attendance.

Inspiration for Young Talents

A special highlight of the celebration was the congratulatory address to the graduates. Cultural Attaché Mariana Petrova urged them to follow their dreams with the same courage that Bulgarian artists use to conquer European stages:

• Discipline and willpower: The key to success in any endeavor.
• National identity: To carry Bulgaria in our hearts, regardless of the distance.
• Gratitude: Appreciation for the teachers who preserve the language and memory abroad.

The event was also attended by the Consul of Bulgaria in Athens, Martin Dimov, lecturer at the University of Athens Gencho Banev, as well as representatives of the Bulgarian diaspora, who once again proved that the Bulgarian spirit is alive everywhere in the world.
