On the night of June 23, Russia carried out a massive missile and drone attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv region, with residential areas, hospitals, and sports facilities being the main targets. The Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital was the worst affected, where the entrance to a residential building was completely destroyed, and the deaths of 4 people have been confirmed. Emergency services were able to rescue 10 injured people and provide them with medical assistance, but there are concerns that there may be more trapped people under the rubble.
In the Kyiv region, in the city of Bila Tserkva, residential and medical infrastructure was also damaged. One person was killed, and eight were injured, including two rescuers who were injured during the operation to eliminate the consequences of the strikes. Emergency services were on the scene from the first minutes after the attack and continue to work on dismantling dangerous structures.
In total, the missile attack on June 23 claimed the lives of 9 civilians in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. The Ukrainian authorities have defined Russia's actions as war crimes, which are being documented for subsequent investigation. They stated that Russia has once again shown that it does not recognize civilian objects, and that for Ukraine, there is nothing more valuable than the life of every citizen.
