Assoc. Prof. Petko Stefanovski, manager of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), ordered urgent comprehensive inspections for possible draining of funds from the NHIF budget in the uncovered illegal homes in the regions of Stara Zagora, Varna and the village of Govedartsi. The control bodies of the NHIF will check the reported and paid medical activities, medicinal products, including expensive ones, and aids for the elderly people taken out of the homes.
The NHIF manager ordered the control bodies to immediately check all the information made public and to report the results of the inspections to him personally. The NHIF management is working closely with Ms. Ivanka Dineva, the Executive Director of the Executive Agency "Medical Supervision", in establishing the personal data of the people from the established illegal accommodation for the elderly. The two institutions promptly exchange information on the inspections.

The NHIF manager requested detailed reports from Information Service AD for the data entered in the registers of the National Health Information System by doctors and pharmacists who reported activities and medications for the elderly people. The NHIF will publicly present the results of the inspections and in case of suspicions of committed crimes, the competent investigative authorities will be notified.
