A devastating fire threatens the unique ecosystem of Kalimok-Brushlen

For the second consecutive day, a fiery natural disaster is raging in a protected natural area near Tutrakan, with local residents and rescue teams making efforts to control the spread of the flames.

An ecological alarm signal alarmed experts in the region of Tutrakan after a fire engulfed a protected area of exceptional biological significance. The initial warning of a large-scale fire came from a local farmer named Zlatko Bonchev, who noticed characteristic clouds of dense smoke.

Immediately mobilized firefighting teams and volunteer formations took urgent actions to localize the fire source. Specialists performed precise planning, creating protective clearings to limit the perimeter of flame spread.

The terrain is characterized by exceptional inaccessibility due to a marshy landscape, which seriously complicates rescue operations. Despite the challenges, teams are working continuously to prevent potential expansion towards neighboring settlements Nova Cherna and Brashlen.

Experts emphasize the exceptional ecological value of the affected zone, which represents the habitat of the largest population of Dalmatian pelicans in Bulgaria. A concerning fact is that similar fires occur annually, which raises questions about the long-term preservation of the unique ecosystem.

Local agricultural producers express serious suspicions regarding the origin of the fire. Unofficial sources do not rule out the version of deliberate provocation, which further complicates the investigation of the incident.
