The Ukrainian Defence Forces undertook a large-scale operation in the night of June 6, delivering powerful preventive strikes on key Russian military facilities. The goal was to prevent another massive bombardment of Ukrainian cities by Russia.
The first target was the Engels airbase in the Saratov region, a major hub for Russian strategic aviation. This is where a concentration of enemy aircraft is located, from where bombers take off and missile attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine are coordinated. A precise strike was carried out, with multiple hits confirmed on at least three fuel storage tanks, followed by a massive fire and a series of explosions.
The second target was the Dyagilevo airbase in the Ryazan region, where air-to-air refueling tankers and fighter escorts for missile carriers are based. It is from this base that strikes against Ukraine are often coordinated. A strike and a fire were confirmed, despite the efforts of Russian air defenses.
Additionally, a logistics point of the 30th motorized rifle regiment of the 72nd motorized rifle division of the Russian army in the area of the village of Kulbaki in the Kursk region was destroyed. The enemy suffered heavy damage, although the details are not yet clear.

These strikes demonstrate a new level of capabilities of the Ukrainian forces and Kyiv's determination to retaliate from where death comes. Instead of waiting for the next bombardment, Ukraine is now acting proactively, striking at the heart of the aggressor. The Kremlin is facing increasingly serious difficulties in protecting its own military infrastructure.
