On May 31, 2025, the National Horizon Grand Prix 2025 competition for students from grades 8 to 12 will be held at the Nikola Stanchev Sports Hall in Burgas. This is the fifth consecutive edition of the competition, which challenges students to construct energy-efficient hydrogen-powered cars in a 1:10 scale and compete for the most laps with the same amount of hydrogen and battery.
A record number of teams from 14 schools in 9 cities across the country - Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Vidin, Veliko Tarnovo, Vratsa, Gabrovo, Ruse, Sofia, and Targovishte - will participate in the competition. Each team consists of 4 to 8 students and a teacher. The winner will represent Bulgaria at the Horizon Grand Prix World Championship, which will be held in Chemnitz, Germany, from August 20 to 27.
"I believe that for the national final, the teams will show their best and offer an exciting experience to all spectators and guests in the hall. Admission to the event is free, so we would be happy to have more car sports enthusiasts come to the venue, enjoy the event, and support the students," commented Ivaylo Bonev, the manager of the main organizer, "Technokrati".
The National Competition in Burgas is part of the international Horizon Grand Prix family and is organized by "Technokrati" in partnership with the Municipality of Burgas and the Bulgarian Federation of Automobile Model Sports. The main partners and sponsors are ING Bulgaria and Lenovo Bulgaria.
