Price Landscape: Consumer Basket Shows Slight Decline

The State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets (SCCЕМ) presented a current report on consumer basket price trends, which reveals interesting market dynamics. Chairman Vladimir Ivanov emphasized that the weekly reduction of two leva - from 101 to 99 leva, is not a result of deflationary processes, but reflects natural seasonal fluctuations.

The expert analysis focused attention on significant variations in different product groups. The vegetable sector demonstrates the most noticeable price changes, with zucchinis, cabbage, red and green peppers showing a significant price reduction. The reduction in watermelon also represents an interesting accent.

The quantitative dimensions of market changes reveal precise value deviations. The most significant reductions were registered for zucchinis - by 0.25 leva per kilogram, followed by pork at 0.21 leva and chicken meat at 0.17 leva per kilogram. In the opposite direction, lemons and apples marked increases of 0.17 and 0.12 leva respectively.

Detailed tracking of pricing from May 20 to date reveals curious trends in basic food products. Sugar has registered a slight increase from 1.87 to 1.94 leva per kilogram, while beans have become cheaper from 4.35 to 4.25 leva. Rice maintains a stable position at 3.38 leva per kilogram.

Dairy products show different price trajectories. Yogurt has decreased from 1.43 to 1.38 leva per cup, while fresh milk marks a minimal increase from 2.36 to 2.39 leva per liter. Cheese has dropped from 18.60 to 18.10 leva, while white cheese slightly increased to 11.55 leva per kilogram.

Meat products demonstrate interesting market movements. Pork has become cheaper from 10.27 to 9.95 leva per kilogram, while chicken slightly increased from 6.75 to 6.80 leva. The vegetable sector shows drastic changes - tomatoes decrease from 2.47 to 2.36 leva, cucumbers from 1.94 to 1.59 leva.

Vegetable crops mark remarkable price transformations. Cabbage has become cheaper from 1.70 to 0.95 leva per kilogram, carrots slightly decrease from 1.31 to 1.28 leva, and mature onions from 1.36 to 1.20 leva. Peppers register significant changes - red pepper falls from 3.27 to 2.86 leva, green from 4.32 to 2.55 leva.

The fruit market presents a dynamic picture. Lemons mark a significant increase from 3.02 to 3.85 leva, apples from 2.14 to 2.75 leva. Peaches maintain relative stability around 3.84-3.90 leva. Noteworthy is the drop in apricots - from 5.80 to 3.83 leva, and watermelon - from 1.25 to 0.69 leva.

Vladimir Ivanov concluded that the year is proceeding with normal price interactions, expressing optimism about future climatic conditions and their potential impact on agricultural harvest.
