Key topics from the bilateral energy agenda and the current geopolitical situation were discussed at a meeting between the caretaker Minister of Energy Traycho Traykov and the German Ambassador to Bulgaria, H.E. Irene Maria Plank.
Against the backdrop of tensions in the Middle East, Minister Traykov presented measures to limit price pressure on fuels, including support for vulnerable households.
As part of efforts to curb inflation, the government also announced an additional package of measures related to electricity prices, with a priority on supporting sectors highly sensitive to energy costs.
The project for a Vertical Gas Corridor for supply diversification and enhancing energy security was discussed.
Among the highlights was also the topic of extending the derogation for the four subsidiaries of Lukoil in Bulgaria.
The future of the “Maritsa-East” complex was also discussed in the context of the energy transition, with the German region of Lusatia being cited as an example.
