In an interview for the show "Why, Mr. Minister?" on bTV, Grozdan Karadjov expressed a categorical disagreement with the expenses for 30,000 icons from the Road Safety Fund, stating that they should be managed by the State Agency for Road Safety, not by officials. The Minister announced that the toll system, which will allow for the detection of vehicle speed and load, will be operational in a month and a half.
Karadjov pointed out that the main problem is the lack of discipline of drivers, giving an example of a serious accident in which the driver of a heavy vehicle exceeded the speed limit. He explained that all 470 trucks of the company are being checked, with a thorough analysis of the data from the digital maps, tachographs, and the toll system. The Minister expressed confidence in the impartiality of the investigation.
According to Karadjov, in order to increase discipline, stricter measures need to be imposed on offenders, such as additional training, temporary dismissal from work, or salary reduction. He stated that all ministries are working in a coordinated manner on 43 measures to improve road safety.
