Cross-border cooperation Romania-Bulgaria finances over 17 million euros for educational projects

The Monitoring Committee of the Joint Interreg Romania-Bulgaria 2021-2027 Cross-Border Cooperation Programme approved 21 new projects worth over 17 million euros, aimed at improving educational infrastructure and services in the cross-border region. The projects involve the participation of leading universities, schools, and municipalities from both sides of the border.

At the 4th meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the Interreg Romania-Bulgaria 2021-2027 Cross-Border Cooperation Programme, held in Ruse, 21 new projects with a total value of over 17 million euros were approved. The projects are within the framework of Priority 3: "Educated Region" and are aimed at improving equal access to quality educational services through the development of accessible infrastructure.

Among the approved projects from the Bulgarian side are those with the participation of the "Angel Kanchev" University of Ruse, the Vocational School of Agriculture - Sitovo, the Medical University - Pleven, the University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment "Dr. Georgi Stranski" EAD - Pleven, the municipalities of Berkovitsa, Vratsa, Belogradchik, Vidin, Byala, Vetovo, Belene, Lyaskovets, Montana, the European Institute for Cultural Tourism - Dobrich, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ruse, the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics, the University of Veliko Tarnovo "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" and others.

During the meeting, the Guidelines for applying under the targeted call for strategically significant operations (OSI), aimed at improving navigation on the Danube River and rail connectivity, with pre-determined beneficiaries from the Bulgarian side - the Executive Agency "Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River", the State Enterprise "Port Infrastructure" and the Executive Agency "Maritime Administration", were also approved.

The participants in the meeting discussed and adopted a series of key decisions aimed at promoting cooperation between Romania and Bulgaria and the sustainable development of the cross-border region. An information event was also held for beneficiaries of current projects, where they received useful information on project management and implementation.
