Nearly 5 million euros will be allocated to support small and medium-sized enterprises in the border region of Bulgaria and North Macedonia. The funding will be provided under the Interreg VI-A IPA Bulgaria - North Macedonia 2021-2027 program, managed by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works.
Each approved enterprise will be able to receive between 100,000 and 300,000 euros in grant assistance, with up to 85% of the budget provided by the EU and the remaining up to 15% as national co-financing. The funds must be used primarily for the supply of new equipment, production or environmental innovations, and digital technologies, with up to 35% being directed towards training, certifications, marketing, and internationalization.
Eligible for funding are projects of at least two partner enterprises - at least one from Bulgaria and one from North Macedonia, registered in the program region no later than the end of 2022 with a minimum of 51% private capital and activity in the field of production, waste management, transport, hospitality, culture, sports, tourism, healthcare, and social services.
The deadline for submitting project proposals is September 15, 2025, and information days on the application conditions will be held on June 27, 2025, in Blagoevgrad and by the end of June in North Macedonia. All documents and guidelines are available on the official website of the program.
The main goal of the program is to support local businesses, innovations, and partnerships between enterprises from both sides of the border, with the funding being provided directly to the approved small and medium-sized enterprises.
