Bulgaria officially confirmed its return to the prestigious song contest "Eurovision" in 2026, when the jubilee 70th edition of the largest musical event in Europe will take place. Our country missed the last three editions, with the last Bulgarian representative on stage being in 2022, but the absence was interrupted by a decision of the Bulgarian National Television (BNT).
The management of BNT defines the return as "part of the strategy for promoting Bulgarian culture and talents on an international scale", and the general director of BNT Emil Koshlukov said: "Eurovision is a stage where cultures meet and stories are shared. We are happy to provide this opportunity for a Bulgarian artist to represent the country in front of a million-strong audience."
The organizers of the competition in Vienna, where the event will take place, also welcomed the Bulgarian participation. "We are very excited to welcome BNT back to the Eurovision family after a three-year break. This return is another proof of the immense popularity and unifying power of the competition," said the director of "Eurovision" Martin Green.
The Bulgarian representative for the competition will be chosen through a national selection, and more details about the format are forthcoming. Fans are already awaiting the announcement of the artists and the writing of the new competition song.
"At this moment, Eurovision is a unique chance for Bulgarian musicians to prove themselves to Europe and to elevate the name of the country," said the member of the BNT Board of Directors Anton Andonov.
