Oil industry groups from Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia will sign a declaration to the European Commission in Sofia today. They will sign it at a conference organised by the Bulgarian Petroleum and Gas Association.
This story follows our earlier report on the association's forecast that fuel prices will rise from 2027 because of new EU environmental rules.
In the document, the groups ask the commission to review some of its directives and green policies so that fuel prices do not jump. Some of the requirements are due to take effect in 2027 and 2028.
The Bulgarian Petroleum and Gas Association said a few days ago that the rules could add 15–20 euro cents a litre to fuel prices.
