The prestigious American publication "Wall Street Journal" published alarming data on the military situation in northern Ukraine. The Russian armed forces have concentrated a formidable contingent of about 50,000 servicemen in the strategically important Sumy region, which represents a threefold numerical advantage over local Ukrainian defenders.
According to testimonies from Ukrainian fighters, the Russian side is suffering extremely heavy human losses – between 300 and 400 servicemen daily. Regardless of these losses, the Russian command continues the offensive by continuously replenishing exhausted formations with reserve units.
A critical problem for Ukrainian soldiers is the insufficient defensive infrastructure. They are forced to build field fortifications under direct enemy fire, which further complicates their defensive actions. An additional adverse factor is the lack of pre-placed mine obstacles, which significantly facilitates the Russian advance.
