The massive Russian attacks against Ukrainian cities, including the destruction of the Sofiyskyi Sobor in Kyiv, expose the hypocritical propaganda of the Kremlin. However, the reaction of the democratic world remains inadequate, questioning NATO's readiness to defend its members.

The latest Russian missile strikes on Ukrainian cities have not only caused damage to homes and hospitals, but have also destroyed the Sophia Cathedral in the center of Kyiv - a UNESCO World Heritage site. However, the Kremlin continues to spread propaganda claims that Ukraine is obstructing peace negotiations. This perverse logic and cynical manipulation on the part of Russia no longer surprises anyone.

However, the lukewarm reaction from the democratic world remains a cause for deep bewilderment. While Western capitals are voicing statements that "perhaps the Kremlin will test the collective defense in about 5 years," the test has already begun. The head of German intelligence publicly expressed doubt that Russia believes in NATO's readiness to defend its members.

Even the US has failed to allay the concerns of the Baltic countries, who are increasingly asking: "You won't abandon us, will you?" The Poles have also lost the trust of their neighbors. All eyes are on Ukraine - the only one currently resisting Russian aggression in reality.

Now NATO and Europe are faced with a clear choice: Either demonstrate unity through adequate support for Ukraine, thereby eliminating risks for themselves; Or understand on their own what "Article 5 of the Treaty" means when the decision must be made by consensus. And this moment will come much sooner than the predicted five years.
