The influential Russian opposition figure Vladimir Kara-Murza reveals that representatives of the anti-Putin opposition are holding private negotiations with Ukrainian officials. The goal is for these contacts to reach the "highest level" - possibly with the participation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Kara-Murza made his comment after a speech to members of the European Parliament during a meeting dedicated to future relations with the democratic Russian opposition. Other participants included Ilya Yashin and Yulia Navalnaya. Yashin confirmed that in response to a question from an MEP about a possible dialogue with Ukraine, they recalled Zelensky's statement from March that he would speak not with Putin, but with people who want an end to the war. They confirmed that they are also ready - and offered European politicians to act as mediators.

In March 2025, Zelensky clearly stated that Kyiv would negotiate not with Putin, but with those in Russia who strive for peace and are not afraid to stand up against the regime. "Perhaps there is an opposition that is afraid of Putin. But maybe they will dare if Europe, the USA and Ukraine are ready for a dialogue with them," said the Ukrainian leader.

These negotiations suggest that an alternative political dialogue between Russia and Ukraine is possible, as long as it does not include the Kremlin regime. Kara-Murza, Yashin and Yulia Navalnaya continue their efforts to mobilize international support for a democratic and anti-Putin Russia - in the name of the security of all of Europe.
