Five people were killed and 36 injured in a Russian attack on Kyiv, Ukraine's National Police said.

Most of the casualties were in the Desnyanskyi district, where a Russian missile hit a multi-storey apartment block in the evening. Three women, aged 35, 58 and 84, died there. Twenty-five people were hurt, including a child.

Two more people were killed in the capital's Holosiivskyi district.

Police have set up a mobile station next to the block, where investigators take statements from residents about damaged property. About 80 have been filed so far.
