Russia hit Ukraine overnight on 15 October with 580 attack drones and two X-59 guided missiles, the Air Force said. Six people were killed and at least 14 wounded in Kropyvnytskyi, Dnipropetrovsk region and Kyiv, Ukrainian officials said.
Russia has been waging a full-scale war against Ukraine since February 2022.
The attack overall
By 8:00 am, air defences had shot down or jammed 536 enemy drones, the Air Force said. Even so, strikes were recorded at 31 locations, and debris from downed targets fell at 11 more.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said more than 850 Shahed drones hit Ukraine from the start of yesterday until 9:00 am today. He said the sky was not clear for a single hour, and the attack came just as the country's air defence capacity is artificially limited. Besides Kirovohrad region, strikes hit Kyiv and its region, and Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Rivne, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Poltava and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. Zelensky said the escalation was a result of weakened sanctions on Russia. He called for "steady support for Ukraine", above all for protecting the sky.
Kropyvnytskyi and Kirovohrad region
Nearly 360 Russian drones attacked Kirovohrad region, the biggest strike on the region since the full-scale war began, regional governor Andriy Raikovych said. Three residents of Kropyvnytskyi were killed and six wounded.
Strikes hit 26 locations. They damaged critical infrastructure, transport firms, logistics sites and homes. Kropyvnytskyi suffered the most damage, and there were also strikes in Znamianka, Oleksandriia, Pomichna and other communities. Rescuers, power engineers, doctors and municipal services are working at the scene. Special commissions will visit the affected sites, count the damage and decide what help victims will get.
Dnipropetrovsk region
After the night strikes on five districts of the region, the State Emergency Service first reported two dead and three wounded. Zelensky later said three people were killed in the region. In the Dnipro district, two people died and two more were wounded. In Pavlohrad, a strike on private houses wounded a woman and set an outbuilding on fire.

In the Nikopol area, a warehouse and a house were damaged. In the Kamianske district, a fire broke out at a business and at an infrastructure site, and private houses were damaged. Private houses were also damaged in Kryvyi Rih. Rescuers put out all the fires.
Kyiv
In Kyiv's Pechersk district, an enemy drone fell in the yard next to apartment blocks, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said. Five people were wounded, two of them in hospital. A car caught fire in the yard.

The impact damaged the facade, part of the roof and the windows of a five-storey residential building. The facades of two neighbouring three-storey houses were also hit. Emergency services are working at the scene.
