Russia attacked Ukraine overnight on 12 October with one Kh-59 guided missile and 121 drones, the Ukrainian Air Force said. By 9:00 am, air defences had shot down or jammed 89 of the drones, according to preliminary data.

Strikes hit 15 locations, and debris from downed targets fell on 4 more.

The figures cover the period from 6:00 pm on 11 October. Russia launched the drones from Oryol, Kursk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, from temporarily occupied Donetsk and from Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea. The missile was fired from airspace over the Black Sea.

The attacking drones included 76 jet-powered Shaheds. Russia also used Gerbera drones, Banderol drones, also known as Dan-T, and Parodiya decoy drones. Of the Shaheds shot down, 55 were jet-powered.

Aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine's Defence Forces repelled the attack.

The previous evening, Russian occupation forces struck a suburb of Kharkiv, killing three people and wounding more than 20 others. In Ivano-Frankivsk, a Russian drone strike killed three people.
