Russia Attacks Gas Facilities in Ukraine - The Largest Attack

Russia launched a large-scale attack overnight against gas production facilities in Ukraine, which proves to be the largest since the beginning of the war, according to the Ukrainian side. According to information provided by the Ukrainian state operator "Naftogaz", cited by Agence France-Presse and reported by BTA, Russian forces fired 35 missiles and 60 drones.

The attacks, which affected key facilities, caused concern and condemnation from international observers. "The enemy carried out its most significant mass attack against gas extraction infrastructure since the beginning of the war", stated "Naftogaz". The strikes were directed at facilities in the Kharkiv and Poltava regions, which indicates the wide scope of the attacks.

Tension is visible at the site of the attacks. Smoke is billowing over the damaged facilities, and employees and technicians are trying to assess the damage. The CEO of "Naftogaz" Serhiy Koretsky used the social network "Facebook" to describe the scale of the destruction. "A significant part of our facilities are damaged. Some of the damage is critical", he pointed out. Koretsky also condemned the "intentional terror" of Moscow, directed against civilian infrastructure facilities.

Given the upcoming heating season, these attacks raise serious concerns for the Ukrainian population. Koretsky emphasized that these actions "have no military logic whatsoever" and "are only aimed at sabotaging the heating season and depriving us of the opportunity to heat the homes of Ukrainians during the winter".

On the other hand, the Russian army issued its own statement about the attacks. According to them, "massive strikes with high-precision weapons" were carried out against military-industrial enterprises in Ukraine and "gas and energy infrastructure supporting their functioning". These statements raise questions about the goals and strategy of Russian military actions.
