Repairs on Trakiya Motorway in Pazardzhik Province: Be Careful!

Drivers traveling on one of the country's most important arteries, the "Trakia" highway, are facing serious challenges this week. The "Road Infrastructure" Agency (RIA) announced that due to large-scale repairs and maintenance, traffic will be significantly hampered in sections within the Pazardzhik region, which requires increased attention and patience from travelers.

Scheduled Activities and Road Restrictions

The activities began today and will continue tomorrow, covering key sections. The initial challenge that drivers are encountering is related to the removal of roadside vegetation. For two days – today and tomorrow – between 6:30 AM and 3:00 PM, road crews will be working intensively in the section between the 55th and 63rd kilometer of the highway. This has necessitated the closure of the passing lane in the direction of Sofia, with traffic being rerouted entirely into the active lane. Travelers in this direction should expect reduced speed and possible traffic jams, especially during peak hours.

Along with the clearing of roadside vegetation, the RIA also announced the start of important road surface repairs. From 9:00 AM tomorrow until 9:00 AM on September 12, repairs will be carried out on the emergency lane between the 32nd and 34th kilometer, again in the direction of Sofia. Although this repair is not expected to create significant obstacles, as traffic will continue without restrictions in the other two lanes, it highlights the need for constant monitoring of road conditions and readiness for sudden changes.

Appeal for Safety and New Control Measures

In its official statement to the media, the RIA issued a strong appeal to drivers. The agency urges all drivers to drive carefully, strictly observe traffic rules and speed limits, and avoid risky overtaking.

This appeal comes amid concerns for the safety of all road users, especially in sections where lanes are narrowed or closed.

These restrictions also coincide with the introduction of a new road control system. As of September 7, the so-called "section control" has come into force, which measures the average speed of movement on certain sections of the national road network. This measure aims to discipline drivers and reduce the number of serious incidents caused by speeding, providing an additional incentive to obey road signs and restrictions.

The road congestion, combined with the ongoing repair work, creates conditions for critical situations. This is precisely why the RIA emphasizes how important it is for every driver to take personal responsibility for their own and other passengers' peace of mind and safety.
