Major repairs on the Trakia Motorway are causing traffic restrictions in sections of Sofia, Pazardzhik and Sliven regions. The repair works include asphalt renewal, drainage improvements, and road marking. The repair is expected to be completed by the end of November.

Traffic on the Trakia Motorway is severely restricted in several sections due to extensive repair works, the Road Infrastructure Agency announced.

The works are distributed across three different sections located in Sofia, Pazardzhik and Sliven regions, and are part of a contract for current repair and maintenance of the motorway, awarded to Avtomagistrali EAD.

First Section (Sofia Region)

The first section, covering 9 kilometers of the motorway, is located in the Sofia region between the 24th and 33rd kilometer. The repair works, which started on September 23, are aimed at the complete renewal of the asphalt pavement, as well as improving the drainage system, road markings, signs and barrier systems. To minimize inconvenience for travelers, traffic on the Burgas lane is restricted, with two-way traffic on the Sofia lane. To increase safety, especially during peak hours, reversible traffic has been introduced every Friday and Saturday. From 12:00 PM on Friday to 3:00 PM on Saturday, two lanes for Burgas and one for Sofia will be designated, while from 3:00 PM on Saturday to 12:00 PM on Friday there will be one lane for Burgas and two lanes for Sofia. The repair is expected to be completed by November 10.

Second Section (Sliven Region)

The second section is an 11-kilometer section in the Sliven region between the 262nd and 273rd kilometer. Construction works there began on September 23, also with traffic restriction on the Burgas lane and two-way traffic on the Sofia lane, with one lane designated in each direction. The completion of the repair is planned for November 30.

Third Section (Pazardzhik Region)

The third section, 8 kilometers long between the 90th and 98th kilometer in the Pazardzhik region, has been under repair since September 24. Traffic restrictions are similar to the other two sections - restriction of traffic on the Burgas lane and two-way traffic on the Sofia lane with one lane in both directions. To ensure smoother traffic, especially on weekends, reversible traffic is introduced with priority for Burgas on Friday and Saturday and priority for Sofia on Sunday. This repair is also planned to be completed by November 30.

All three repair projects involve the complete replacement of the asphalt pavement, improvement of drainage and renewal of road markings and signaling. The works are carried out daily, with the Burgas lane expected to be repaired first, followed by the Sofia lane.

The Road Infrastructure Agency apologizes for any inconvenience caused, emphasizing the need for repair works to ensure safe and comfortable travel conditions. The agency calls on drivers to observe traffic rules, speed limits and avoid risky overtaking. Up-to-date information on road conditions can be obtained from the website www.api.bg or by phone 0700 130 20.

"It is worth noting that similar repair works were carried out in the spring of this year in various sections of the motorway."

Then sections in Sofia, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv and Sliven regions were renovated, with a 12-kilometer section of the Burgas lane being repaired in the Sofia region, and in Pazardzhik - two sections - between the 98th and 106th km and the 106th and 119th km, as well as a section of the Burgas lane in the Sliven region, between the 241st and 251st kilometer. These repair works were carried out in a similar manner with temporary traffic restrictions.
