Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Ivanov signed 45 new agreements worth nearly 77 million BGN to finance projects under the Investment Program for Municipal Projects. Among the signatories are mayors and representatives of 22 municipalities, including Alfatar, Bobov Dol, Borino, Breznik, Godech, Gurkovo, Dve Mogili, Devin, Dospat, Dalgopol, Zemen, Kirkovo, Kocherinovo, Krumovgrad, Loznitsa, Novi Pazar, Novo Selo, Rudozem, Ruen, Svoge, Sevlievo and Smolyan.
Minister Ivanov stated that they are fulfilling their commitments to local authorities and the signing of agreements is regular. He hopes the program will continue to operate under future governments. Agreements that were not signed last year are being processed in stages to implement infrastructure projects.
The Minister urged mayors, where possible, to replace the projects with those related to water supply. He pointed out that the funds received by the water operators from European projects are utterly insufficient to cover all deficits in the water supply network. The main source of funding from the state budget for water infrastructure is the Investment Program.
