President Rumen Radev returned the amendments to the Investment Promotion Act. The changes concern restrictions on future sales of Lukoil assets. DANS will play a key role in approving the deals. The decision comes against the backdrop of debates about energy security.

President Rumen Radev returned for further discussion in the National Assembly the controversial amendments to the Investment Promotion Act. According to a statement from the presidential press office, the returned amendments foresee significant restrictions on potential future sales of assets related to the energy giant "Lukoil" on the territory of the country. The President's decision comes against the backdrop of heightened debates in the public sphere regarding energy security and control over strategically important industries.

A central point in the returned amendments is the introduction of additional regulations on the eventual sale of "Lukoil" assets. It is envisaged that such deals will be subject to approval by the Council of Ministers. This decision will be made on the basis of a positive opinion from the State Agency "National Security" (DANS). Analysts note that this move could significantly complicate the sale process, giving DANS a significant role in assessing potential buyers and their intentions.

Within the adopted provisions, DANS will have a key role. The agency will conduct a preliminary investigation and provide a written opinion before any disposal transaction related to corporate shares and shares of the capital of several key companies. These include "Lukoil-Bulgaria" EOOD, "Lukoil Neftohim Burgas" AD, "Lukoil aviation Bulgaria" EOOD and "Sustainable energy supply" OOD. Observers emphasize that this mechanism gives DANS significant power and could potentially affect future investment intentions in the energy sector.

The atmosphere in the corridors of the National Assembly is tense. The MPs are preparing for new debates, and their decisions will have serious consequences for the country's energy independence and the future of a major player like "Lukoil".
